Being a word-smith, I searched long and hard in trying to come up with a new name for this blog when it ceased being just about my kids (formerly known as The Adventures of Fast Turtle & Baby Bug). I love words, so picking just one or two that had real meaning for me was hard. One day, I came up with synchronicity and serendipity (among many others which didn’t make the cut).
Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events which are causally unrelated occurring together in a supposedly meaningful manner.
Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely.
The best way, for me, to see how much I like something is to try it on. So, I started typing “synchronicity” into the title bar, paused, and looked up at what I had written. Synchrondipity. Irony of ironies, I had in fact created my own serendipitous coinage. I thought to myself, gee, self. Perhaps this is something talking to you. So, LISTEN. And I did.
I kept the “adventures in” part because I feel that this whole process really is a grand adventure. Fast Turtle and Baby Bug are staying, too.
